Anna Marie Cotner, 93, of Mt. Vernon, IN, formerly of Newburgh, passed away Sunday July 3, 2016 at Deaconess Hospital. She was born on July 29, 1922 to the late George and Lena McCarty. She married Carl Cotner on July 14, 1942 at Sacred Heart Church in Hattiesburg, MS. When Carl left for Germany she returned to Mt. Vernon, where she worked at Rosenbaum's Department Store. She later worked at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville and Titzer Family Funeral Homes ~ Simpson Chapel in Newburgh. While living in Newburgh, Anna attended daily mass at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She was currently a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church. Anna was a caregiver to her sister, Leona Moore until Leona went to the Nursing Home in New Harmony. Anna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl Cotner; son, Myron Cotner; grandson, Chad Adams; great-granddaughter, Katrina Adams; siblings, Louise Brown and Carl McCarty. Anna is survived by her daughter, Carla Ann Hendricks (John); great-grandson, Dalton Adams; great-great-granddaughter, Phoenix Adams; sisters, Leona Moore and Helen Cox and brothers, John and Eugene McCarty all of Mt. Vernon; and a special niece, Jeanie Moore. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Friday July 8, 2016 at St. Matthews Catholic Church, 421 Mulberry St. Mt. Vernon, IN with burial in St. John's Cemetery, Newburgh. Visitation will be held 9 a.m. to mass time at the church.
