Arthur L. Parady, 89, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2015 at Deaconess VNA Home and Hospice Care. Born March 30, 1926, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan to Edward and Nell (Gagnon) Parady. His wife of 53 years, Mary Rose (Schmitt) Parady preceded him in death on July 4, 2003. Arthur enlisted with the U.S. Maritime Service in 1943 and spent his 18th birthday in the North Atlantic, his 19th birthday in the South Pacific and his 20th birthday in the Indian Ocean serving on T.2. Tankers. In 1948, he enlisted with the U.S. Army. He met his wife, Mary Rose, when stationed at Camp Breckenridge. He served in the Korean War and was discharged Sergeant First Class. Arthur served an apprenticeship in the Sheet Metal trade at Evansville Sheet Metal Works where he eventually became shop foreman. He was elected Business Manager in the Sheet Metal Workers Local 96 and served 15 years in that capacity. Arthur received his 60 year recognition pin on November 15, 2013. Arthur was a self-made man. During his professional life, he served as President of the Building Trades, President of the State Council of Sheet Metal Workers. He was a founding member of the Labor Management Committee and served on the board. He also served on the County Tax Adjustment Board, the City/County Merger Committee (1980's), the Advisory Board of Southwestern Indiana Mental Health Center, the Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corporation Board Screening Committee and was the Democratic Precinct Committeeman for Center-3-Out Township. Arthur was a life-long Democrat and exemplified the true meaning of "family values" by his complete devotion to his family. Arthur is survived by his son, Thomas Parady (Barbara) of Batavia, Illinois; four daughters, Madonna Wagner (Rex), Rosanne Parady, Theresa Collins and Jenny Maglinger (Paul) all of Evansville; two sisters, Dorothy Rose and Pauline Salomon of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan; one brother, Jack Parady of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan; eight grand-children, Matthew Wagner, Luke Wagner, Carrie Donovan, Stephen Collins, Jessica Will, Mari Rose Burke, Sy Dym, and Katie Collins and eleven great-grandchildren. The Parady family wishes to thank the staff at Market Street Living, the 2500 Unit at Deaconess hospital, the staff and rehabilitation unit at Solarbron, and Deaconess VNA Hospice. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Lung Association. Services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday December 10, 2015 at Titzer Family Funeral Homes ~ Miller & Miller Colonial Chapel, 100 E. Columbia St. Evansville, Indiana 47711 (812) 424-9274. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday morning 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
