Barbara K. Calvert

Barbara K (Fulkerson) Calvert, 86, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky, passed away on July 21, 2026, at Ohio County Hospital with her son by her side.

Barbara was born on April 15, 1940, in Echols, Kentucky, to the late John Guy and Doretta (Singleton) Fulkerson. She attended Rockport School and graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1957 before continuing her education at DeVry University in Evansville, Indiana.

Barbara dedicated many years of her career to helping others feel their best as a hairdresser. She worked at Klein’s, Happiness Is, and Carol’s Beauty Corner. She was devoted to her faith and was a faithful member of Rockport Baptist Church. She loved bingo nights with friends, tending to the garden, doing crafts, and puzzles. She was a cheerleader in high school, loved to cheer for UK basketball, and loved to cheer for her sons as they played baseball growing up.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jerry Allen Calvert Jr.; her brothers, Hilbert Lee Fulkerson, Hywell Dean Fulkerson, Guy Wallace Fulkerson, and Willis Fay Fulkerson; and her sister, Wilma Sue Moore.

Barbara is survived by her son, Mark (Jani) Calvert; her brother, Jack Fulkerson; her sister, Janet Cantu; her grandchildren, Max Calvert, Casey Calvert, Chris Calvert, and Katie Altmann; her great-grandchildren, Myleigh Calvert and Chloe Altmann; and many extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Oak Hill Cemetery.
