Barbara Ellen Whalen

Barbara Ellen Whalen (Gilles), 95, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. She was born in Owensboro, KY, on June 12, 1931, to the late William and Josephine (Strehl) Gilles.

Barbara was a wonderful mother who dedicated her time to making her home a warm and welcoming place for all her children. She enjoyed gardening and playing the piano. She leaves behind many who will remember her with love.

Barbara is survived by her three daughters, Janice Hochstetler (Daniel), Linda Okamura (Gordon), and Sharon Whalen (Ace); five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Whalen, and two daughters, Diana Whalen and Mary Ann Whalen, as well as her eleven siblings.

A private interment will take place at Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery in Evansville, where Barbara will be reunited with her husband in rest.
