Bennie O. Grant

Bennie O. Grant, 85, passed away, October 25, 2017, at his home in Boonville.  He was born October 30, 1931, in Warrick County to Vernnie L. and Pruda B. (Pate) Grant.

As a young man he rode in many rodeos, enjoyed playing the banjo and racing cars.  He retired in 1996 as a plant manager from Hardesty Welding in Evansville. 

He and his wife Cora Lee hosted numerous annual music festivals at Grant's View featuring Bluegrass, Folk, Country, and Gospel; they appreciated all the musicians that played at the festivals; and they also headed up the Bluegrass Festival at Angel Mounds for some 7 years. 

Bennie was a member of the Poorman’s Country Club, Odd Fellows, Eagles, the FOP, and volunteered at Angel Mounds.

Bennie was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 63 years, Cora Lee (Bice) Grant; and sister, Clara Mae Johnson. 

He is survived by his children, Yvonne Loehrlein (Chris), Vivian Grant, Sandra Hatfield, Marty Grant, Randy Grant; grandchildren, Rachel Walters, Angela Staggs, Shawn Lannan, Leslie Slingerland, Carla Ruff, Grant Loehrlein; ten great-grandchildren; and brother, Elvis Grant (Marie).

A Funeral Service will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Simpson Chapel, 510 W. Jennings St., Newburgh, IN, (812) 853-8314.  Burial will follow in Bates Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m., Monday, and 9 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Boy and Girl Scouts.  Sympathy wishes to the family may be shared at www.titzerfuneralhomes.com.
