Brenda June Schmitt, 70, of Elberfeld, Ind., passed away Saturday, September 19, 2015 at her home. She was born January 20, 1945 to the late Opal and George Schlensker. Brenda graduated from North High School in 1963. She worked at Wesselman's Super Market, Key Market, and was manager at Hancock Fabrics. Brenda was a member of Zoar United Church of Christ. Her hobbies included flowers, gardening, canning, sewing, quilting, and 4-H with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Schlensker. Brenda is survived by her husband of 47 years, Arthur Schmitt; son, Daniel Schmitt (Pam); daughter, Rebecca Stevens (Richard); grandchildren, Britni, Sadie, Katelyn, Avery, Emma; brothers Henry Schlensker and Glen Schlensker. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Volkman Chapel, 2nd & Elm Streets, Elberfeld, Ind., (812) 983-4211. Rev. Steve Oeth will officiate and burial will follow in Northview Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to service time Thursday at the funeral home.
