Services: 7 p.m., Wednesday at our Simpson Chapel. Burial 11:30 a.m., Thursday, in Maplelawn Park Cemetery in Paducah, KY.

Brett K. Lucas, 51, of Newburgh, Ind., passed away Friday, May 6, 2016, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh . He was born August 19, 1964, in Paducah, KY to John E. and Mary F. Lucas. He graduated from Castle High School and USI. Brett started cooking at home while in high school. He cooked at several local restaurants over the years, including the Homestead, Knob Hill, and the American Legion. Brett, was one of the founding members of the Newburgh Barbecue Coalition, he totally enjoyed grilling for various non-profit organizations donating time and talent for their benefit. The barbecue sauce was his creation. He was a member of the Sons of American Legion (SAL). Brett is survived by his parents of Chandler; brother, Bradley Lucas (Jean) Murfreesboro, TN; niece, Jordan Lucas of Thompson Station, TN; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his infant brother, John Jr. He was of the Christian faith. Brett had many friends and was always happy to be with them. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses who were so kind and caring during Brett's hospital stay. A Funeral Service will be held 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Simpson Chapel, 510 W. Jennings St., Newburgh, Ind., (812) 853-8314. Burial will be 11:30 a.m., Thursday, in Maplelawn Park Cemetery in Paducah, KY. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday and 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
