Chelsey Elizabeth DeWitt, 31, of Newburgh Indiana passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, October 3rd, 2024. Chelsey continued her self-sacrificing legacy giving on the gift of hope to 5 families as an organ donor.
Chelsey was born on June 8th, 1993, in Galesburg, Illinois. Chelsey is survived by her devoted parents, Tammy and Evan DeWitt, her brother, Cameron DeWitt, as well as her loving grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. They will forever cherish the memories of her and the special moments they shared.
Survived also by her cat, Kiki, Chelsey was a life-long lover of animals by which she carried out this passion working at Harp’s pet store for several years. Chelsey was known for her carefree spirit, infectious laughter, and the joy she brought to every room she entered. Her sense of humor and fun-loving nature made her a pleasure to be around, and she had a unique ability to lift the spirits of those around her.
Despite her battles with mental health illnesses, Chelsey faced each day with courage and resilience. Her strength and determination was an inspiration to many. Though her struggles were immense, they never dimmed the brightness of her personality or the love she shared with her family and friends.
A funeral service will take place on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Titzer Family Funeral Homes Simpson Chapel, 510 W. Jennings St., Newburgh, IN 47630 at 11:30 a.m., with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
A graveside service will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, 1622 S 3rd St., Boonville, IN 47601. A celebration of life will follow the graveside service for friends and family.
