Delores "Dee" Joan Freudenberg

Mrs. Delores Joan (Schmidt) Freudenberg, 91 passed away on Saturday May 18, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.  

Delores was born to George and Clara Schmidt in Evansville, Indiana on March 2, 1933.  She graduated from Bosse High School, was a 10-year 4-H member, and was an Indiana State Fair Sweepstakes winner in Home Furnishings and the Sewing and Fashion Revue project. In 1952 she married the love of her life, veterinarian, Charles Freudenberg. They settled in Newburgh, IN where they wanted to raise their family.  Delores and Charles owned and operated Parkdale Animal Hospital for 20 years.  Delores became a veterinary technician and mother to their three children. She was also actively involved in her church and community.  She was a member of the Indiana Farm Bureau, Warrick County Democrats, Newburgh Women’s Club, LWML of her Lutheran Church. And a 10-year 4-H leader in Warrick County. Delores and her husband retired from veterinary medicine. They went on to own and operate Newburgh Town and County Farm Market and Newburgh Family Restaurant for several years with their family. “Dee” as she was affectionately called, was the bookkeeper and manager.  Her gift of photographic memory, detailed organization, and numbers was amazing. The greatest gift she gave her family was exemplifying her love for Christ.  She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Preceding Dee in death were her husband, Charles Freudenberg, her son Scott Freudenberg, and her parents Clara and George Schmidt.

Dee is survived by two children, Keith Freudenberg and his partner Bill Mathews of Newburgh, daughter and son-in-law Jana and Mike Witte of Wilkinson, IN, daughter-in-law Kim Freudenberg of Evansville, grandchildren Trisha (Freudenberg) and Byron Reeves, Evie (Freudenberg) and Burke Strong of Evansville, Annalee (Witte) and Jacob Mueller of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Evan, Isabella and Nick Witte of Wilkinson, IN. She is also survived by her brother Marvin Schmidt of Florida and nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 28th 2024 at Titzer Family Funeral Homes Simpson Chapel, 510 W Jennings Street in Newburgh, IN. Public visitation will be from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., with funeral service at 1 p.m. and burial to follow. at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Evansville, Indiana.

The Freudenberg family would like to thank Dee of Omni Hospice and Melissa of Senior Helpers for their kindness and love during this time.
