Doris Jean (Farley) Hanssen, 82, of Indianapolis, formerly of Evansville, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2015. She was born July 1, 1933 in Henderson, KY to the late James E. and Wahlene (Polley) Farley.
She worked as a telephone operator with Indiana Bell for 30 years. Doris was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and helped with funeral dinners and summer socials. She was a volunteer for the Little Sisters of the Poor.
She enjoyed reading and working puzzles and traveling to Europe.
In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Cyrille William Hanssen and sister, Carolyn Busby.
Doris is survived by her son, Jeffrey Hanssen. DVM (Brenda) of Greenfield, IN; two grandchildren, Kathryn Hanssen of Boston, MA and Ian Hanssen of Delaware, OH; brother, James Richard Farley of Henderson, KY; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner's Hospital, St. Louis or St, Joseph Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m., Thursday, August 20, 2015 at All Saints Parish, St. Joseph Catholic Church, 600 E. Virginia St. Evansville. Rev. Fr. Jay Davidson is the celebrant with burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a memorial service at 7 p.m., Wednesday, August 19, at Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Miller & Miller Colonial Chapel, 100 E.
