Dorothy L. (Wedeking) Roeder, 99, of Evansville, Ind., passed away, September 21, 2017, at Braun's Nursing Home.  Dorothy was born January 28, 1918, in Evansville, the daughter of Charles and Lillian (Schaller) Wedeking.

She was a graduate of Reitz High School and worked as a secretary before she met her future husband Del at a local dance.  They were married on October 1, 1941, in Washington, D.C., where Del was stationed while serving in the Army.  The young couple spent the first ten years of marriage visiting, exploring, and enjoying the landmark Washington, D.C. sites.  Most importantly they welcomed the birth of two sons before returning to Evansville in 1952.  Both enjoyed traveling and continued to do so until Del's passing in 2008 after 67 years of marriage.  Dorothy was a devoted wife and mother.  She had a curious mind and loved playing card games with family members.  Her desire to read and learn continued well into her 90s.  Books, maps and a dictionary were always close at hand.  She was a lifelong member of St. Lucas Church.  Her strong faith served her well throughout her time on Earth.

Dorothy is survived by her two sons, Gerald H. Roeder (Wilma) of Evansville (her primary caregivers), Ronald C. Roeder (Brenda) of Jacksonville, FL.  She had five grandchildren: Ronald Rex Roeder of Cornwall, NY, David Roeder of Lincoln, NE, Michael Roeder of Lincoln, NE, Kathy McCorvey (Jim) of Jacksonville, FL, Karen Morton (Robert) of Plantersville, TX.  Dorothy is also survived by fifteen great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Wedeking; and sister, June Wedeking.  Dorothy was preceded in death in 2008 by her husband of 67 years, Delmar M. Roeder; parents, Charles and Lillian Wedeking; brothers, Charles and Harold Wedeking; and sister, Venita Hines.

The family would like to thanks the staff at Braun's Nursing Home for their care.  And a very special Thank You to Dorothy's sister, June, for her love and devotion to "Big Sis".

A Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, October 6, 2017, at Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Meyer Chapel, 100 E. Columbia St., Evansville, Ind., (812) 424-9288.  Rev. Deborah McBride will officiate and burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be 3 to 6 p.m., Thursday and 10 a.m. to service time Friday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Lucas Church, 33 W. Virginia St., Evansville, IN 47710-1798.  Sympathy wishes to the family may be shared at www.titzerfuneralhomes.com.
