Doyle J. Baehl, 96, of Newburgh, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2026. He was born on March 20, 1930, to the late Alphons and Irma (Sensmeier) Baehl.
Doyle and his wife, Mary, were married for 69 years; meeting at the Hornville Dance Hall in 1954. Together they raised three children and created a wonderful life together. Doyle was a hard worker who enjoyed being a handyman around the house, gardening, going to church, and telling funny stories to anyone who would listen; especially his grandkids who have fond memories of his storytelling and poking fun. He served in the army during the Korean War, went to trade school for tool and dye making, and worked as a tool designer at Alcoa for many years. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
Doyle is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mary (Adler) Baehl; two sons, Michael Baehl (Deborah), Brian Baehl (Shelly); son-in-law, Kevin Glass; grandchildren, Ashley Schwartz (Jordan), Emily Greemore (John), Alex Baehl (Morgan), Evan Baehl, Nicholas Baehl, Brianna Baehl, Adam Glass (Brittney), Caitlin Glass, and Collin Glass (Chesba); great grandchildren, Remi, Rowan, Christopher, Jacob, Lucas, Olivia, Addisyn, Jackson, Madilynn, and Colton; brother, Kenny Baehl (Winona), Paul Baehl (Sylvia); sister-in-law, Helen Baehl.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alphons and Irma (Sensmeier) Baehl; daughter, Cathy Glass; siblings, Valeria Spindler (Joe), Jerome Baehl, Bernard Baehl (Ruth), Sharon Mills.
A Mass of Christian Burial in Doyle’s honor will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 625 Frame Rd, Newburgh, IN 47630, with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the church: Interment to follow at St. John the Baptist Mausoleum. A visitation will also be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Titzer Family Funeral Homes Simpson Chapel, 510 W. Jennings St, Newburgh, IN 47630, with a prayer service beginning at 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Doyle’s name may be made to The Sisters of Saint Benedict, 802 E 10th St, Ferdinand, IN 47532; and or, Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Newburgh.
