Patrick Curtis Flamion, MD, Newburgh IN
Doctor Patrick Curtis Flamion, 73, of Newburgh, IN passed away unexpectedly on September 30, 2024. Dr. Flamion was a man of many accomplishments, and he was well loved by his family as well as the community at large. He will be very dearly missed.
Patrick was born on November 13, 1950, in Tell City, IN to his parents, Homer and Eulalia (Goffinet) Flamion. After graduating from Perry Central High School, Patrick received a Pharmacy degree from Purdue University in 1973; he then went to graduate IU Medical School in 1977. In August 1972, Patrick married his high school sweetheart, Janice (Hagerdon) and they were blessed with three sons, and much later, nine grandchildren.
Dr. Flamion ran a private family practice for 35 years where he cared for many residents in the Evansville community; he had been retired from his practice for 9 years when he passed. In addition to operating his own private practice, Dr. Flamion shared his talents within many other health care institutions throughout his career; he was also the Medical Staff President of St. Mary’s Hospital, Medical Director of VNA Hospice Inpatient, Mead Johnson’s Clinical Physician, a physician to the Indiana National Guard, Director of Woodlands Nursing Home (Newburgh), a volunteer physician at University of Evansville and Memorial High School, Clinical Physician for EVSC, an Adjunct Clinical Staff Physician for IU School of Medicine, and the Workman’s Comp doctor for both Neihaus Construction and Whetstine Homes.
Patrick was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish (Newburgh), and a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus with Council 7544 (St. Benedict Cathedral). He was also involved in many investment groups, and held the office of Director of the Central Indiana Chapter of the Better Investing Club.
Dr. Flamion loved his work, but above all he cherished spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed playing euchre, fishing, and bluegrass music, and he was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Purdue Boilermakers fan.
Patrick is survived by his beloved wife, Janice; his three sons, Greg (Olga Perez) Flamion and children Madeleine and William (Miami, FL), Chad (Tara Colicchio) Flamion and children Caitlyn, Carly, Jocelynne and Rosie (Newburgh), and Ryan (Sarah Endress) Flamion and children Lucy, Norah, and Stella (Newburgh); and his two brothers, David (Rosemary, deceased) Flamion (Bandon, IN) and Robert (Doretta) Flamion (Bandon, IN). Patrick was also preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Eulalia Flamion.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church in Newburgh, IN on Saturday October 5, 2024 at 11 a.m. with a preceding visitation at 10 a.m. On Friday October 4, 2024, a visitation will be held at Titzer Family Funeral Home, in Newburgh, IN from 12 noon until 7 p.m., with a memorial service beginning at 7 p.m. Entombment at st. John's Mausoleum will follow Dr. Patrick's Funeral Mass on Saturday, September 5 2024.
Memorial contributions and condolences may be made to charitable groups that were close to Patrick’s heart, both Sleep in Heavenly Peace (Evansville Chapter) and St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
