Elsie Louise Schermer Hunteman, of Newburgh, IN, formerly of Lawrenceburg, IN, passed away Monday, March 30, 2015 in Newburgh. She was born June 2, 1926 in Friendship, IN. She resided 60 years in Lawrenceburg before moving to Newburgh in 2013. Most people remember Elsie as the “white tornado” because of her love to clean. Her activities included playing cards, shopping and spending time with her grandchildren. She also loved spending her winters in Florida with her friends. She was an active member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Lawrenceburg for over 60 years. She is survived by her daughter, Marsha Lambert (David) of Newburgh; her son, Bob Schermer (Gloria) of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Leslie Sikes (Will), Kate Miller (Kelley), Vance Lambert (Whitney), Brittany Warren (Josh), and Kristina Schermer; seven great granddaughters, Lily, Kinley, and Riley Miller, Lila and Rose Sikes, Arielle and Austin Lambert, and future great grandson, Brady Warren. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 41 years, Hartsel (Hap) Schermer; her second husband, Calvin Hunteman. Visitation will be held at 3 p.m. with funeral services at 6 p.m. CST, Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Titzer Family Funeral Homes ~ Newburgh Chapel, 510 W. Jennings St. Newburgh, IN 47630 (812)853-8314. Pastor Chris Nunley will officiate. Additional visitation will be held in Greendale, IN at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 570 N. Sheldon St. 47025 on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. with funeral services at 1 p.m. EST. Rev. Jeff Iacobazzi will officiate with burial in Greendale Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Association in honor of her granddaughter, Kristina. Sympathy wishes may be made at titzerfuneralhomes.com.
