Harvey William Bays, Newburgh IN

Harvey William Bays, 73, of Newburgh IN passed away at home on July 6th, 2025. Born in Vanderburgh County, he was the son of Harvey H. Bays and Bernice (Flamion) Jarboe.

He graduated from TCHS, USI and Ivy Tech in industrial maintenance, as well as Navy Aviation with the US Marine Corps.

Harvey served in the US Marine Corps, worked in the Boilermaker Union Local 374, Maxon Marine, and had a distinguished career at American Electric & Power, where he retired as a supervisor in the control room.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Carol J. Bays; their children, Michelle (Keith) Woodland, Dusty (Kyle) Snively, Angela (Seth) Carlson and Taryn (Chris) Holbrook; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; his brother, Dennis (Judy) Bays; and many nieces and nephews. Harvey was preceded in death by his parents and a son, William “Mike” Wallace.

Harvey was a devoted Husband, Father and Papaw. He enjoyed fishing, motorcycle riding, traveling and visiting family. He was an active member of American Legion Post 213 and the US Marine Corps League. He will be remembered for his commitment to his family.

A private service will be held for Harvey’s immediate family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research in his memory.
