Harvey K. Putnam, of Evansville, passed away at Deaconess Hospice on June 9, 2016 at the age of 90. He was born in Island, KY to Forest and Bessie (Taylor) Putnam. At a young age the family moved to Evansville. Harvey joined the United States Marine Corp at the age of 18 and served as a radio man on a DC 3 in Japan during WWII. Harvey worked as a Sheet Metal Worker Local 20 until his retirement. He was a life time member of the American Legion. In addition to his parents, Harvey was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy (Herron) Putnam; daughter, Barbara (Putnam) Leach and son, Michael Putnam; brother, Warren Putnam and sisters, Frances Keown and Carolyn McKenzie. Harvey is survived by his daughter-in-law, Carolyn Putnam of Evansville and son-in-law, William Leach of Omaha, NE; four grandchildren, Stacy Putnam Gries (Aaron), Leslie Putnam Gasser (Andrew), Kris Leach and Jeff Leach; five great-grandchildren, Sam, Teddy, and Charles Gries, Gavin and Sadie Gasser; siblings, Fay Steele of Evansville and Larry Putnam of Denton, TX. The family would like to express their appreciation for the loving care given to Harvey, by Deaconess Hospital Staff and Deaconess VNA Hospice. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Deaconess VNA Hospice. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with a funeral service at 12 noon on Monday, June 13, 2016 at Titzer Family Funeral Homes ~ Miller & Miller Colonial Chapel, 100 E. Columbia St. Evansville, IN (812) 424-9274. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with military services conducted by the Marine Corp Honor Guard.
