Imogene (Genie) Kleeman Johnson

Imogene Johnson passed away July 17, 2026, at Heart to Heart Hospice Center in Evansville, Indiana. She was born in Dubois County, Indiana to the late Lena Simpson Kleeman and Victor G. Kleeman.

After graduating from high school in 1944, Imogene moved to Evansville, where she later met her husband, Robert L. Johnson, who preceded her in death in November 2000. She is also preceded in death by brother, Leroy Kleeman, and sisters Louise Kleeman Studer and Loretta Kleeman Stofleth.

Imogene is survived by her daughter, Karen Johnson Elmendorf; grandsons Scott (Brianne) Elmendorf and Craig (Taylor) Elmendorf; great-grandsons, Rhett, Caleb, Burke, and Keane Elmendorf and Kai McCord; as well as half-sisters Linda Wahl, Sandra Kluemper, and Mary (Ray) Striegel, and half-brothers Victor Kleeman and Jerry Kleeman. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tues, July 28 at 11a.m. at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, Newburgh, Indiana, with visitation at the church beginning at 10:00 before the service.

Private interment at St. John The Baptist Cemetery will occur at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Church, Mother Teresa Treasures, Heart to Heart Hospice, or other charity of choice.
