Listen to Obituary

Jackie was born Jacquelyn Charlotte Grimmer in Detroit on July 14, 1944, to Charles and Mary Heggy Grimmer. She passed away on April 22, 2026.

Jackie was a member of Benjamin Bosse High School Class of 1962 and a pivotal part of the Bosse ’62 Reunion Committee for 60 years. She especially enjoyed her connections with her classmates.

She married Dale Wayne Crowley on September 19, 1964, and together they boated with their Family and Friends at Rough River Kentucky for more than 30 years. Many happy days were spent cruising on the lake.

Jackie actively supported her boys in all of their activities from Cub Scouts to competitive swimming, football, soccer, and music. The boys went off to college and she went to work at the Evansville Courier, Alexander Funeral Home, Miller & Miller Colonial Chapel and finally John James Audubon State Park in Henderson. She fell in love as a naturalist at the park, caring for animals, leading programs interacting with children and adults and the people she got to work with. Who wouldn’t love working at a park?

Her many interests included music, books, nature and history. She was a 35- year member of Newburgh History Club and a 25-year member of the Kiwanis Club of Newburgh. She served in numerous capacities in both organizations. She was formerly the Warrick County Historian.

Surviving Jackie are her sons, Dale Wayne (Griffin) of Vallejo CA, James Christopher (Tara) of Winthrop MA, and Christopher Wayne (Lindsay) of Chesterland, OH; her grandchildren, James Dylan and Landyn Marie Crowley; her siblings, Martha Riffle Klueh and Gib Riffle, both of Evansville; her sister-in-law, Vicki Grimmer of Evansville; her nieces, Kim Crawford, Jill Moseman, Beth Berns, Elizabeth Freitag, Mary Elise Klueh, Hannah Riffle, Vicky Bates and Connie McNichols; and by her nephews, Jon and Andy Grimmer, Michael Klueh, Kyle Crowley, Bobby and Larry Adams.

Jackie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Wayne Crowley; by her parents, Charles and Mary (Heggy) Grimmer; and by her beloved sister and brother, Barbara Trockman and Jon Grimmer; by her sister-in-law Jean Adams; by nieces and nephews, Kurt Crowley, Debbie Richards and Gary Crowley; and by her father-in-law Clarence Crowley and her amazing mother-in-law, Beatrice Sandefur Crowley.

A celebration of Life will be held at John James Audubon State Park Museum in Henderson, KY, on May 9th, 2026 at 1 p.m. A private burial will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Newburgh, IN. All arrangements are in the care of Titzer Family Funeral Homes in Newburgh, IN.

Jackie would like her Family and Friends to know that they have meant so very much to her, and she is grateful for their love.
