James Henry Mcshanog

James Henry McShanog was born on March 8, 1938 to Donald and Doris McShanog in Knightsville, Indiana.  He passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 23, 2017. 

Jim graduated from VanBuren High School in 1956.  He was a lifelong member of The Elks, Berea Christian Church and Newburgh Christian Church.  After retiring from Amax Coal Company in 1986, Mac, as he became known, started a second career with Action Pest Control and The Evansville Housing Authority.  

He leaves behind his loving wife Diana, children James (Cathie), John & Kim Bennett, Scott & Debbi Krejci, Jon & Raquel Pickard, Lori Fussner (Kevin), Andrew & Danielle Wichern and favorite dog Heidi.  He was grandpa to 18 and great grandpa to 11 with one on the way.  He is also survived by siblings Richard & Dianna McShanog, Max & Nancy Youngblood, Bob & Pam McShanog, Mary Thomas, Linda Stewart and Al & Jane Miller.  His Brother and Sister in Law, Mike & Linda Piper and Mother in Law Joyce Rogers Strait.  He was proceeded in death by his parents, Father in Law Russell Strait, Brother in Law Gaylord Stewart, Daughter in Law Debbie Brantley McShanog and great grandson Cory Joseph Wiggins.  

Always an avid sports fan Mac loved IU basketball and The St. Louis Cardinals.  He spent his free time bowling, playing golf and watching every sporting event.  

As per his wishes his family is planning a Celebration of Life at Benwood Mt. Lebanon Church, Brazil, Indiana for March 18, 2017.  Details to follow.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Ronald McDonald House 550 S. 1st Street, Louisville, KY 40202.
