James Lee Seibert of Newburgh, Ind. James Lee Seibert, 71, passed away Friday, March 6, 2015 at St. Mary's Medical Center. James Lee Seibert known as Jim or Jimmy Lee was born to James and Angelina Seibert on December 18, 1943. A 1961 graduate of Mater Dei, he served in the U.S. Army, and graduated from Indiana State University with a degree in political science. He raised his family in Columbus, Indiana, lived briefly in Bloomington and then moved back “home” to the Evansville area to Newburgh where he then retired after a 30-year career as a salesman with Lee Company. Jim, a former wrestler himself, was an avid fan of Mater Dei wrestling; he never missed a high school state wrestling championship except in the years he was away and was just recently in Indianapolis following the team. He was a true example of “volunteerism” especially in his beloved Newburgh where he served on the Historic Newburgh Preservation Board. He loved art and supporting local artists; he formerly owned “Moon River Art Gallery” and Serendipity Gifts and Art in Newburgh. Throughout his life, Jim loved folk and jazz music, took in stray animals and fostered the natural beauty in the environment around him. Jim enjoyed playing golf with his buddies, looked forward to his monthly “breakfast club” with old friends and thrived on his daily connections with newer friends around town. He adored his grandchildren and spending time with them. One thing Jim loved most was sharing his home with others and one of his favorite things was having family and friends gathered together around the player piano singing songs. He was married to Mary Seibert for 21 years; she preceded him in death. Jim is survived by his 3 children, Katrina (Nicolas) Costeur, Heather (Amandus) Jalof and James (Ashley) Seibert. He leaves behind 7 beautiful grandchildren who he loved dearly, Angelina and Lucas, Nyah, Jaden and Banyan, Jameson and Mary Wren. His sisters Toni Flamion, Judy(Ed) Knapp and Angela (Doug) Gioe and 12 nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all the ICU staff at St. Mary’s for their loving care during his brief stay. Jim was a good and kind man to everyone with whom he crossed paths. He will truly be missed by all. A memorial service will be held 6 p.m., Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Newburgh Chapel, 510 W. Jennings St., Newburgh, Ind., (812) 853-8314.
