Though born in Henderson Kentucky, he lived most of his life in Chicago, Illinois. He work for the Department of Human Services in Chicago, Illinois for 30 years. James is survived by his son Jordell Prather (Karen), two brothers; Glen Prather (Evelyn) and Darryl Prather, grandchildren; Geonna, LeAira, Julian.
