Jeanne Kay (Clevenger) Walter

June 23, 1950 — August 10, 2024

Jeanne Kay (Clevenger) Walter, 74, went home to be with Jesus in the early morning of August 10th, 2024 with her daughter and son-in-law at her side. Jeanne was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on June 23rd, 1950 to Jim and Joyce Clevenger and lived a life full of laughter, love, and family.

Jeanne was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and an amazing mother. She was a George Washington High School (Indpls, IN) graduate, as were her parents and two brothers, and attended Indiana State University. Jeanne was extremely intelligent, gifted with numbers, had a sharp wit, loved music & reading, and had a beautiful smile and unforgettable laugh.

She was employed at Indiana Gas Company for most of her professional career, subsequently working at Gleaners Food Bank and ending her career at the Indiana Department of Energy. For most of her life she worked at least two jobs to provide for herself and her daughter, Jennifer. Summers were often spent at her parents’ home on the Ohio River boating, playing cards, and enjoying time with friends and family. Later in life, Jeanne married Ralph Walter who loved adventure and encouraged her to travel and pursue adventures together.

Jeanne is survived by her daughter Jennifer (Tom) Moore, her brother Jay (Kay) Clevenger, grandsons Adam (Katie), Evan, and Alex Moore, great granddaughter Maggie, niece Amy (Chris) Dirig, and great-nieces Grace and Lauren Dirig. She was preceded in death by her father James M. Clevenger and mother Joyce Clevenger as well as her brother James E. “Jimmy” Clevenger.

Jennifer would like to personally thank the staff at Primrose Memory Care for their hard work and the patience they showed daily. Jennifer would also like to thank Gentiva Hospice and Diane Winstead. Jeanne generously donated her body to the Anatomical Education Program at Indiana University School of Medicine. This gift will contribute significantly to the advancement of health education. Jeanne’s family had a private celebration of life.

Donations in Jeanne’s memory may be made to: Anatomical Education Program, 635 Barnhill Drive, Room MS 304, Indianapolis, IN 46202.

Online condolences may be made to Jeanne’s family on the Titzer Family Funeral Homes website.
