Jewel Mae Gardner, 89, of Newburgh, IN, passed away at her home on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. She was born in Evansville, IN on February 13, 1935, to the late Charles Henry and Lorraine Melissa (Wilson) Golike. 

Jewel met her late husband, Charles Gardner, at Howell’s Diner and worked at Kent Plastics and Bootz Manufacturing for many years. Jewel and her husband were both host and hostess at national and state parks around the country including Mammoth Hot Springs at Yellowstone National Park, Lincoln State Park, and Hoosier National Forest. She was a cub scout leader, a member of the Warrick County Homemakers Club, and a baseball mom for many years. Jewel also enjoyed creating and painting ceramic pieces. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

Jewel is survived by her children, Butch (Sherri) Gardner, Debbie (Charles) Buchta, Mike (Karen) Murray, Scott (Leanette) Gardner, Becky Lackey, and Beverly Foster; grandchildren, Kristie Georges, Jay Gardner, Jeremy and Michael Buchta, Katelyn Murray, Doug Hurt, Elanie Arnold, Joseph and Matthew Lackey, Andrew Foster, Kristina Robinson; 16 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and 2 great granddaughters on the way.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty seven years, Charles Gardner, parents, and son-in-law, Mike Lackey. 

Private services for the family will be held at a later date.
