John Elwyn Lucas

April 14, 1930 — April 27, 2019

Services: 11 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10 a.m., Thursday at Christian Fellowship Church

John Elwyn Lucas, 89, of Newburgh, IN went to meet his Lord and Savior on Friday, April 27, 2019 at home.  He was born April 14, 1930 in Tolu, Kentucky to the late Elwyn and Margaret (Moore) Lucas. 

John was a United States Air Force Veteran serving in Germany and Morocco.  He was a power operator for 14 years at Union Carbide in Paducah; then went onto retire after 27 years of service as an electrician from Alcoa in 1993.  He was a member of the Union Local #104, Independent Order of Foresters and was the retiree’s Union Lunch organizer at the club house for many years.  John was a member of Christian Fellowship Church for some 30 years where he was an usher and greeter.  He was a member of the American Legion Kapperman Post #44.  John was an avid reader, loved history and current events.  He also loved gardening. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, John Jr.; son, Brett K. Lucas; siblings, Billy Lucas, Mary Alice Trammell, Margaret Ann Franklin; and nephews, Billy Lucas, Jr., Joe Lucas.  John is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary F. (Doom) Lucas; son, Bradley Lucas; granddaughter, Jordan Lucas; nephews, Jim Lucas (Cheryl), Scott Lucas (Lisa); and his late nephew, Joe’s wife, Stephanie Lucas.

The family would like to send a special thanks to the VNA Deaconess.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Christian Fellowship Church, 4100 Millersburg Rd., Evansville, IN 47725, with Full Military Rites Conducted. 

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Simpson Chapel, 510 W. Jennings St., Newburgh, IN (812) 853-8314.

Burial will be 11:30 a.m., Friday in Maplelawn Park Cemetery, 1335 N. 13th St., Paducah, KY.
