Joyce Marie Harris, 82, of Newburgh, Indiana, joined her loving husband in eternal rest, June 28, 2016, surrounded by her family at Atria Senior Living Center. She was born September 30, 1933, in Cincinnati, OH, to John and Matilda Heinz. Joyce graduated from Withrow High School, and earned her nursing degree from Bethesda School of Nursing in 1955. Joyce and her loving husband, Jack Lee Harris, moved to Evansville in 1957. She retired from Deaconess Hospital in 1992 after practicing as a coronary care nurse for over 35 years. Joyce was a caring and compassionate soul. She truly had a heart of gold and a giving spirit. Her pride and joy were her family, especially her grandchildren. She also possessed a competitive spirit in all she did, including schooling the grandchildren on the latest video games. She enjoyed fishing, knitting, card games, and spending time with family and friends, especially poolside. She was a member of Zion UCC in Evansville where she served as a parish nurse and on the Board of Christian Education. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 59 years, Jack Lee Harris. She is survived by son, Dirk Jay Harris (Amy); daughter, Michele Lynn Daum (Brian); and six grandchildren, Joshua, Courtney, Seth (Erin), Abby, Isabella, Griffin. The family would like to thank the Atria staff as well as Joan Lutz for their caring compassion and loving support. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, July 2, 2016, at Zion United Church of Christ, 415 NW 5th St., Evansville, Ind., with Pastor Kimron Reising officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Newburgh, Ind. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, at Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Simpson Chapel, 510 W. Jennings St., Newburgh, Ind., and again from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion UCC, Evansville.
