Judith Mae Smith, 91, of Newburgh, IN, went home to Jesus and her beloved husband Kenneth early on April 27, 2024, peacefully moving on to her glorious home in Heaven. Judy was born in McHenry, KY on November 29, 1932 to Charles and Bertha McDowell.

Judy’s family moved to Indiana, where she met the love of her life, Kenneth Smith, Sr. Proud residents of downtown Newburgh, Judy and Kenny raised their children to respect and love others. They trained them up in the church and were some of the most active members of Mt. Olive General Baptist Church in Newburgh. Judy served the Lord faithfully alongside her husband, aiding him with the Children’s Church Ministry. Judy worked for S. S. Kresge, and later retired from K-Mart. She was a member of Mt. Olive Women’s Mission Society. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends, reading, baking, and watching her favorite team, the St. Louis Cardinals.

Judy is survived by her beloved children: Vicki Cosby, Pam Arflack, Kenny Smith, Jr. (Connie), and Nancy Schnarr (Tony). She adored and prayed over her grandchildren: Jeremy Lucas (Amanda), Angie Wilson (Danny), Chad Smith (Gena), Melinda Arflack, Kevin Smith (Jodie), Heather Scott (Jeremiah), Elizabeth Schnarr (Lakota), and Emily Schnarr; her cherished great grandchildren: Justin Wilson, Tyler Wilson, Michael Lucas (Chloe), Alexandria Schmett (Josh), Blake Wilson, Calvin Frizzell, Jordyn Benson (Bradin), Ethan Knotts, Dayton Smith, Andrew Knotts, Ashton Smith, Gage Scott, and Everly Scott; and treasured great great grandchildren: Austin Wilson, Stefan Frizzell, Evalena Schmett, Jaxson Wilson, Zayne Wilson,and Adalyn Schmett. Also surviving Judy and so very close to her heart is her sister, Charlene Corley, and many dear nieces and nephews.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth Smith, Sr., brothers Albert McDowell and Bill McDowell, sisters Faye Hunt (Wesley) and Sue Chapman (Herman), grandson Ronny Lucas, granddaughter Michelle Arflack, Joshua Schmett, and great granddaughter Brynleigh Scott.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2024, at Titzer Family Funeral Home, 510 W. Jennings St., Newburgh, IN. Reverend Joshua Slater officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Newburgh. Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Friday.
