Katherine "Nanny" Louise White

With hearts full of gratitude and sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved mother and “Nanny”, Katherine Louise White, who left us Tuesday September 15, 2026, surrounded by her family at the age of 93.

Katherine was born on April 1, 1933 in Lamar, Indiana, to her parents Agnes and Walker Conner. From humble beginnings during the Great Depression, Katherine built a life founded on grit, strength and perseverance. She was a devoted homemaker, mother and grandmother. A country girl at heart, she loved horses, shooting and working in the yard. She also enjoyed spending time with family, being silly, watching her Westerns, and snacking on a Hershey Bar. She had a fiery spirit, a loving heart, and was a constant presence her family could always depend on. Whether there was a problem or a celebration, she was always there.

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents; her nine siblings; her husband, Robert and her two beloved daughters, Paula and Janice. She is survived by her cherished daughter, Vickie Smith, and son-in-law, Gary Gossar; four grandchildren, Seth (Shannon) Gossar, James Sweeney, Dwan (Shane) Shiver, and Harold (Katherine) Sweeney; five great grandchildren, Matthew Gossar, Gavin and Garett Sweeney, Chloe Gossar and Jakob Shiver; and one great-great grandchild, Corbyn Gossar. 

A funeral service honoring Katherine’s life will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at Titzer Family Funeral Homes Meyer Chapel, 100 E. Columbia St., Evansville, IN 47711. Visitation will also take place at Titzer Family Funeral Homes Meyer Chapel, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The service will be officiated by her grandson, Minister Seth Gossar. Katherine will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Evansville, Indiana, directly following her funeral service.
