Laverne Blue “Dixie” Dugan, age 87, of Newburgh, IN passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at Woodland Golden Center in Newburgh.

He was born January 22, 1934 in Knox County, Ohio, he is the son of John M. and Gladys (Blue) Dugan.

He served in the Naval Reserves for 8 years, worked in the coal mining industry for over 45 years and also, served as the Warrick County Auditor from January 2011 to December 2014. Dixie was a 32^nd degree Mason, Hadi Shrine, Red Brush Rifle Range, Izaak Walton Gun Club, NRA Benefactor Member, NRA Safety Instructor, and member of the Newburgh United Methodist Church.

Many of Dixie’s interests took him outdoors. He loved to play baseball, softball, hunting, trap shooting, gunsmithing, and motorcycling with Marge.

Dixie is survived by his wife of 62 years; Marge Dugan of Newburgh, IN, daughter, Cheryl Close (Van) of Copper Canyon, TX; daughter, Dawn Duncan (Dennis) of Las Cruces, NM; daughter, Connie Dugan of Nolensville, TN; son, Kevin Dugan (Jane) of Evansville, IN; 3 granddaughters, 3 grandsons, and 3 great-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 1 sister, 1 granddaughter, 1 grandson.

A visitation will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021 from 3-7 PM., at Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Simpson Chapel 510 W. Jennings St. Newburgh, IN 47630 (812)853-8314

A Celebration of Life will be held at 7:00 PM. on Friday, November 12, 2021 at the funeral home.
