Lawrence E. Carpenter, 91, passed away Thursday July 31, 2014 at Miller's Merry Manor in Rockport, IN. He was born September 12, 1922 in Spencer County to the late Edward and Anna (Gatchel) Carpenter. He served in the United States Army during WWII. He was a life member of VFW 2953 in Evansville and a member of American Legion Post #254 in Rockport. Lawrence worked for Deig Brothers Construction and retired from the Warrick County School Corporation. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, LeEtta; two great-grandkids; brother, Waldo and sister, Louise Ditchley. Lawrence is survived by his daughter, Marilyn Suter (James R.) of Newburgh; son, Lawrence Carpenter, Jr. (Lisa) of Gallatin, TN; grandkids, Angie Bethe of Chandler, Jim Suter (Erin) of Boonville, Jason Suter (Denise) of Newburgh, Jeremy Suter (Andrea) of Chandler, Tanya and Andrea Carpenter of Owensboro, KY, Brandon Spain of Nashville, TN; Fifteen great-grandchildren; brother, Parvin Carpenter (Faye) of Boonville. The family would like to send Miller's Merry Manor a special blessing for all their love, support and friendship during the care of Lawrence. Also, a special thanks to Asera Care for everything they did for us. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday August 4, 2014 at Titzer Family Funeral Homes ~ Simpson Chapel 510 W. Jennings St. Newburgh, IN (812) 853-8314. Pastor Cindy Keck will officiate with burial in Bates Hill Cemetery.
