Leibern “Red” Williams, 90, of Newburgh, IN, passed away on February 28, 2026 at Primrose Retirement Community in Newburgh. He was born on February 20, 1936, in Saline, IL, to the late Ralph and Flora (Jones) Williams.
Red was the owner and operator of Williams Excavating for over 39 years and worked at the Evansville Courier and Press in the evenings for over 36 years. He was a devoted husband, father, step-father and grandfather. Red was always willing to lend a helping hand to his friends and family, and contributed countless hours to community service and to those in need. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Red is survived by sons, Nick G. Williams (Michelle) and Rick D. Williams; grandchildren, Alyssa Williams (Bryce), Katelyn Williams and Kennedy Williams; great grandchildren, Jordan, Lilly and Oliver; step-son, Kevin L. Klausmeier (Christine); step-granddaughter, Hannah Call (Ben); great step-grandsons, Brody and Brock Call. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy “Susie” Williams, his parents, sisters, Olive Maxine Fiscus (John), Lois Ann Summers (Dave), and brother, Billy Joe Williams (Ann).
Funeral services for Red will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 2 P.M., at Titzer Family Funeral Homes Simpson Chapel, 510 W. Jennings St, Newburgh, IN 47630, with visitation beginning at 11A.M. until the time of service on Wednesday. burial at Rose Hill Cemetery, Newburgh.
In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Red may be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
