Lenis Jay McClain Jr, 72, of Newburgh, Indiana, passed away at his home on Saturday, August 10, 2024. Lenis was born on March 25, 1952 in Brooksville, Florida to loving parents, Jay & Elsie (Morgan) McClain. His older sister, Beverly, was proud of her baby brother.
Lenis grew up in Belleview, Florida where he attended Lake Weir High School. In high school, he competed in track, excelled in the classroom and was the senior class president. He continued his study at the University of Florida graduating with a BA, BS in Accounting.
Lenis spent his whole career working for Credit Thrift/American General/AIG/SpringLeaf/One Main. While starting within the branches of the company, he moved into audit where he was able to use his analytical skills and leadership abilities with a great impact. He ended his career as Vice President and General Auditor for One Main.
After retirement, Lenis fell in love with Lisa Kay. Lenis and Lisa met in high school when he tutored her in geometry. He was excited to help the cheerleader. Years later, their friendship was rekindled and love blossomed. They were married for two years packed with memories but too short to satisfy their hopes and dreams they had planned.
Lenis was a loving father to his son, Trey (Kitten). He was a source of wise counsel, encouragement and support. Whether rooting for the Florida Gators, discussing the latest events in their lives, or working together on a project, their time together was cherished. He delighted in moments with his granddaughters Alyssa and Morgan. He was proud of their accomplishments and quick to brag on them to friends. He saw the incredible futures they possessed and was filled with delight.
Lenis left a rich legacy of faith, generosity and friendship. In his last days, his house was often filled with former co-workers, friends, neighbors who came to share once again the impact that he had on their life. With laughter and tears, stories were shared and memories rekindled.
Lenis is survived by his wife, Lisa Kay; his son, Trey McClain (Kitten); his granddaughters Alyssa Wood (Chevvy) and Morgan McClain; his sister, Beverly Kitts. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lenis Jay McClain Sr. and Elsie Irene (Morgan) McClain; and grandson, Addison Jay McClain.
A memorial service to celebrate Lenis’ life will be held at 3pm on Saturday, August 17, at the Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Simpson Chapel, 510 W Jennings St., Newburgh, IN 47630. Friends may visit with the family from 1PM to the start of the service.
