Services: A celebration of life ceremony will take place Saturday, December 3 with visitation beginning at 12:00 and the service at 1:00 p.m. It will be held at the Zion United Church of Christ in Newburgh

Leonard L. Davis, 93, was born on November 22, 1928 in Benton, IL to Otho and Opal Davis.   He passed away in Zephyrhills, Florida on November 1.  Len was married to the late Jean Davis for over 70 years and had three children, Jeffrey Davis (Lynne), Larry Davis (Ronda) and Lori Otzmann (Keith).  In addition, he had 6 grandchildren, Sarah Wilzbacher (Brian), Whitney Curran (Andrew), Drew Davis (Christine), Adrah Davis, Ryan Otzmann, and Kadi Otzmann.  He was also the great grandfather to Addie and Lorelai Wilzbacher; Hadley, Luke and Ben Curran and Caroline Davis.

Len attended Benton Elementary and High School and later Lockyear Business College in Evansville, IN.  Len and Jean were married in 1948 and he started his career working at Westinghouse and later supporting the operation of Pearce’s Grocery in Newburgh.  He worked for World’s Finest Chocolate Company selling fundraising for many of the area schools, churches, bands, and related organizations.  He initiated the Boy Scouts of America popcorn fundraising effort and was active in the community.  He was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Newburgh, IN since 1949.

Len was an active bowler and won the Indiana State Bowling competition in 1971.  His greatest sports passion was golf which he spent much time together with family and friends on many golf courses.  He lived in Ocala, FL for 14 years before returning to Newburgh in 2012.  His wife Jean preceded him in death in 2019. 

A celebration of life ceremony will take place Saturday, December 3 with visitation beginning at 12:00 and the service at 1:00 p.m.  It will be held at the Zion United Church of Christ in Newburgh followed by a private ceremony of interment at Rosehill Cemetery in Newburgh, Indiana
