Margaret Clara (Kuhlenschmidt) Menke, 85, passed away, Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at home. She was born November 2, 1928, in Warrick County, to August and Minnie (Reinhardt) Kuhlenschmidt. Margaret graduated from Elberfeld High School and Lockyear Business College. She married Vernon Eugene Menke, Sr., on November 14, 1948. Margaret enjoyed caring for others. She loved all sports, especially watching her grandchildren play. Her hobbies included quilting, gardening, cooking, and baking. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon Eugene Menke, Sr.; and her son, Lloyd Menke; and her dog, Max. She is survived by her children, Carol Singer (Tom), Vernon E. Menke, Jr. (Barb), Richard Menke (Alice), Michael Menke (Marla), Dennis Menke (Donna), Beth Euler (Dirk); grandchildren, Joseph Singer, Clint Menke, Zac Hillyard, Abby Hillyard, Katie Mitchell, Jenny Menke, Micah Brown, Meaghan Elpers, Aaron Euler, Adam Euler, Michelle Bernard; great-grandchildren, Kiersten Menke, Kendall Menke, Valerie Brown, Mackenzie Brown, Mallory Elpers, Macie Elpers, Averie Bernard, Nash Bernard. Also surviving are cousins, nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; close friends, Carol and Gary Mann; best friend, Jackie Geiselman. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Friday, September 5, 2014, at Zion United Church of Christ, 165 Elm St., Elberfeld, Indiana, Rev. Janet Buente will officiate and burial will follow in Zion Cemetery. Visitation will begin 10 a.m. at the church. Arrangements in the care of Titzer Family Funeral Homes, 2nd & Elm Streets, Elberfeld, Indiana (812) 983-4211. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Women's Guild of Zion UCC, PO Box 157, Elberfeld, Indiana 47613 or the Elberfeld Fire Department, 25 Front St., Elberfeld, Indiana 47613.
