Martha Joan (Greenwell) Scheessele, 85, died Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Golden Living Center, Woodlands. She was born September 6, 1929 to Robert and Anna (Weikel) Greenwell in Owensboro, KY. She was a graduate of St. Joseph Grade School and High School in Owensboro, KY. She married Kenneth Scheessele on September 25, 1954 and was a homemaker from that time. Joan was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, and was a choir member and daily mass attendant for many years. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Kenneth Scheessele; two daughters, Jude Smith of Orem, UT and Jovita Vandersnick and husband, Blaine of Seattle, WA; two sons, David and wife, Debbie, and Ralph both of Newburgh, IN; six grandchildren; two step grandchildren; two great grandchildren; five step great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Edward Greenwell of Odenton, MD, and one sister, Nancy Whitaker of Ramsey, IN. She was preceded in death by one son, Vincent Scheessele; a brother and sister, Robert Greenwell and Margaret Hardesty. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 625 Frame Rd. Newburgh, IN. Rev. Fr. Anthony Gorvind will officiate with burial in St. Rupert Cemetery,Red Brush. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8p.m., Tuesday, March 31, 2015 with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., at Titzer Family Funeral Homes ~ Newburgh Chapel, 510 W. Jennings St. Newburgh, IN (812) 853-8314. Additional visitation will be held on Wednesday morning 9 a.m. to service time at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church or the Monastery of the Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand, IN. Sympathy wishes may be made at www.titzerfuneralhomes.com.
