Martha Tennessee (Moore) Fox, of Newburgh, Ind., passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016, in her home surrounded by family.
Martha was born on March 6, 1929, to the late Energy and Minnie (Johnson) Moore. She graduated in 1947 from Beaver Dam High School and earned her Nursing degree in 1950. She specialized in Psychiatric Nursing and loved her patients. She worked as the Director of Nursing in Owensboro before relocating to La Porte, Ind. She was a Supervisor of Nursing at Beatty Memorial Hospital for over 20 years before coming to the Evansville area. She retired from the Evansville State Hospital and returned to work at Deaconess Cross Pointe part time.
She was an avid traveler and faithful member of the Christian community. One of her most treasured memories was traveling to Russia to hand out Bibles and to share her faith.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Energy and Minnie Moore; brothers, Dever, Goebel (Elna), Truman, Lyman, Dayton (Hazel), Johnson Hillard; and a nephew, Patrick.
Martha is survived by her son, Steven Fox (Milton Gonzalez), a Diplomat from Alexandria, VA; daughter, Reva Dossett (Steve), a retired Mental Health Therapist; grandson, Chad Dossett (Ashlee); granddaughters, Shayna Dossett of Newburgh, Kelly Stephens of Cincinnati; many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly; and her cat, Taffy.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Fox and the staff of Oncology Hematology Associates, the staff at Bell Oaks Place, and the staff of Gentiva Hospice for their loving and compassionate care, especially her nurse, Amanda Strathmann.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Simpson Chapel, 510 W. Jennings St., Newburgh, Ind., (812) 853-8314. Graveside services will continue at 2 p.m. in Sunnyside Cemetery, Beaver Dam, Kentucky.
