Mary D. Lucas, 91, of both Newburgh and Chandler, IN, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at River Pointe Health Campus in Evansville, IN. She was born in Detroit, MI, on September 6, 1934, to the late Pony and Zella (Doom) Griffith.
Mary was an active member for many years at Christian Fellowship Church in Evansville and was a tax preparer at various businesses. She was a member of the Evansville bridge club and enjoyed playing cards and bingo at River Pointe. Mary found great joy in delivering mail to the residents of River Pointe; she cherished the opportunity to connect with others and often took extra time to help those who needed assistance reading their mail. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff and residents of River Pointe Health Campus for their kindness, friendship, and compassionate care shown to Mary throughout her time there.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, John Lucas; sons, John Jr. and Brett Lucas; and her parents. She is survived by her son, Brad Lucas, of Murfreesboro, TN; granddaughter, Jordan Lucas, of Columbia, TN; three great grandchildren, numerous nieces ad nephews, and her best friends and caregivers of many years, Kitty Monahan and Susan Grabert.
A graveside service in Mary’s honor will take place on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 12:00pm at Maple Lawn Cemetery Chapel, in Paducah, KY.
Condolences to the family may be made at the Titzer Family Funeral Homes Website at www.titzerfuneralhomes.com and or, 510 W. Jennings St, Newburgh, IN 47630. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s name may be made to the ALS Foundation, American heart association, Kidney Research Foundation, and or a religious or charitable foundation of your choosing.
