Mary M. Appler, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother passed away on April 25, 2020. She was born June 28, 1927, in Evansville, IN, to the late George H. and Margaret M. Summers. 

Mary was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Evansville, a treasurer for nearly 40 years of the St. Joseph Alter Society and member of the Knights of St. John Auxiliary.  

Mary was active in her children’s lives. She was a Girl Scout and Boy Scout troop leader, nurturing young children. She was also active in local politics for over 20 years

A 1946 graduate of Reitz Memorial High School, Mary worked at Schutz Herman. She married her beloved husband of 71 years, Donald C Appler, on August 24, 1946. She then became a full time homemaker, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.

Mary is survived by her devoted six children, Donna Crompton of Springfield, IL; Cheryl Fruits of Clover, SC; Randy (Darlene) Appler, Mark (Sandy) Appler, Chris (Martha) Appler, all of Evansville, IN; Scott (Richard) Appler of Elberfeld, IN; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; loving friends and neighbors. 

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 71 years, Donald C. Appler; sister Rita J. Paget; brothers Herbert V. Summers and William E. Summers.

There will be no public visitation or burial due to the current COVID 19 health restrictions.  Private burial service will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
