Mattie Delene Franklin-Cates-Blue

Our sweet and sassy Aunt Delene, Mattie "Delene" Franklin-Cates-Blue went to be with her Savior, Saturday, September 5, 2026 at Parkview Care Center, Evansville, IN.

Mattie "Delene" was born on November 29, 1932 in Kentucky to her parents, Stephen Dee and Mattie Edith (Hicks) Franklin. After high school Delene pursued work in the retail industry working at multiple Department stores in women's fashion.

She was an active member of Earlington First Baptist Church in Madisonville, KY and also participated in Women On Missions cause. Mattie loved to spend time with her family and social events. Mattie became a part of the Blue Family in 2017 when she married Richard Blue, whom she cherished, of Hanson, KY.

Mattie "Delene" was preceded in death by her parents, Mattie and Stephen Franklin; Siblings, Owen Franklin, Lansen Franklin, Vable Dorris and Anna Ruth Hopper; and her first Husband Douglas Wayne Cates.

She is survived by her daughter Felysia "Deniese" Stivers; Granddaughter Jessi V Stivers, Nieces and Nephews, Kathy Franklin, Cheryl Dame, Kelly Franklin and Dwight Dorris; Great Nieces, Michelle Gunn, Amber Pendelton, Stacey Lyon (Steve), Jamie Goodman-Lee, Great-Great Niece and Nephew Kathryn Lee and Christopher Goodman, as well as many other nieces, nephews, and cousins, along with extended Blue family and many friends.

A funeral service for Mattie "Delene" will take place at 1:00 PM on Friday September 11, 2026, at Titzer Family Funeral Homes Meyer Chapel, 100 E Columbia St, Evansville, IN 47711. A visitation in Mattie "Delene's" honor will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral at 1:00 PM. Burial will take place at a later date at Union Cemetery in Nebo, KY.
