Maxie Ray Nance, 81, of Newburgh, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2016, at Deaconess VNA Hospice.
Max was born December 21, 1935 in Onton, Kentucky to the late Henry Nance, Sr. and Blanche L. (Ashby) Nance. He is survived by his brother, Charles (Karen) and his sons, Mark (Jill), David (Stacie), and Dale (Paula); grandchildren, Krista (Dan) Keesling, Sean, Matthew (Samantha) Nance, Brittany (Matthew) Johns, Kayla (JC) Johnson, Zachary, Bailey, Shelbie and Aubrie; and great-grandchildren, Maelyn, Kamryn and Gage.
Max graduated from Newburgh High School in 1953 and served in the United States Army Reserve from 1956-1963. His working career included stints at Chrysler, SIGECO, Niehaus Industrial Sales and Boonville Country Club where he was a member for over 50 years. Max was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Donna, parents and four siblings.
Those of us that knew Max admired his kindness, honest nature and never-ending quest for knowledge. His last day was typical of Max, filled with witty comments and quotes that made both his family laugh and the hospital staff smile, fully knowing that it was time to join his wife on the back nine.
Friends may visit with the family from 4 p.m. To 8 p.m., Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Simpson Chapel, 510 W. Jennings St., Newburgh, Indiana. (812) 853-8314.
