Michael Andrew Mason

Michael (Mike) Andrew Mason passed away on Thursday, April 30th, 2025, in Newburgh, Indiana, at the age of 57. He was born on May 8th, 1967, in Louisville, Kentucky, to S. Max and Marilyn “Mae” Mason.

Mike graduated from Castle High School in 1985, where he was an enthusiastic member of the marching band, playing trumpet, and a fierce competitor on the varsity tennis team. He remained connected to his alma mater and was eagerly anticipating the upcoming 40th reunion for Castle's Class of 1987, actively serving on the reunion committee.

He continued his education at Indiana University, where he was recognized for his writing talents and served as managing director of Residential Student Housing. In 1992, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. Following graduation, Mike ultimately joined his father in helping to lead the family oil business in Southern Illinois.

Mike was known for his sharp wit, quick sense of humor, and a “Good Samaritan” heart. He had a passion for helping others—whether it was offering roadside assistance or lending a hand to help someone in need. Over the past two years, Mike devoted himself to helping care for his special-needs brother, Mark. A talented cook, Mike delighted in experimenting with unique culinary dishes and sharing meals with loved ones. He also enjoyed traveling, following IU sports, and was an active member of Abundant Life Community Church in Newburgh for many years.

Mike is survived by his beloved daughter, Makenna; his parents, Max and Mae Mason; his brothers, Mark and Matt Mason (sp. Corey); his former wife, Michelle; his aunt, Sue; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Mike was a lover of animals (especially dogs) and the family would appreciate a donation to "It takes a village" in Evansville IN, in Mikes name.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 10th, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Titzer Family Funeral Homes Simpson Chapel, 510 W. Jennings St, Newburgh, IN, 47630, followed by a Christian service at 12:00 p.m. to celebrate his life.
