Michael Mitchell, 62, of Newburgh, Ind., passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2015 after a long battle with cancer, while surrounded at his home with family and loved ones.
Mike held many careers during his life, making friends wherever he went. Mike served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. He spent most of his working career as the owner of Mitchell Transmissions in Newburgh, Indiana. Mike also worked at Mead Johnson Nutrition and was currently employed at Bristol Myers Squibb.
Mike spent his time outside of work riding his Harley motorcycle, hunting, drag racing, and watching NASCAR. Mike went on many trips out West hunting buffalo, jack rabbits, antelope, and wild boar.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arnold W. Mitchell. Surviving Mike is his loving life companion, Connie (Elpers) Schofield; mother, Ruth Lenko; stepfather, Joe Lenko; daughter, Melissa Mitchell; son, Michael J. Mitchell; sisters, Kay (Bruce) Arbeiter and Cheryl Najvar (John); brothers, Ted (Angel) Mitchell and Wes (JoAnn) Mitchell; stepbrother, Tom (Diane) Lenko; grandchildren, Hannah, Kaynah, Austin, Destinee, Serenity, Michael A, and Ranaelynn; great-granddaughter, Emma, many nieces, nephews, and numerous lifelong friends.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Simpson Chapel, 510 W. Jennings St., Newburgh, Ind., (812) 853-8314. Burial with full Military Rites will be conducted by the American Legion Kapperman Post 44 at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
