Michael Lee Wheat, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away at the age of 64. He was born in Evansville, IN, on January 15, 1961, to the late Bennie and Edith (Simpson) Wheat.
Michael grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and attended the University of Illinois where he received his degree in music education. He dedicated his life to teaching music, inspiring countless students with his talent, patience, and enthusiasm. Michael will be remembered for his love of music, his commitment to education, and the joy he brought to those around him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Edith (Simpson) Wheat, and Grandparents, Alton and Matilda Simpson, of Haubstadt, IN, aunt, Wilma June Mauck, of Hobart, IN and uncle, Nolan Simpson, Ft. Branch, IN.
Michael is survived by his aunts, Jeanne Phillips of Newburgh, IN, and Pat Knapp, of Evansville, IN; his uncles, Cledith Simpson, of Marietta, GA, and Jerry Simpson, of Haubstadt, IN, and; and many cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, on Friday, August 1, at Nobles Chapel Church, 5478 E. 1250 S, Elberfeld, IN 47631, visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.
