Paul Eugene "Gene" Wedding, 81, of Evansville, Ind., passed away Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Deaconess Hospice. He was born July 17, 1934, to the late Edward and Elizabeth (Clark) Wedding.
Gene worked in the trucking industry for 37 years, 23 of those with Time-DC as a Road Driver Supervisor. In retirement he worked 11 years part time for Old National Bank in security. Gene served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1962 and was honorably discharged at Ft. Meade, MD, holding the rank of SP4 (Corporal). Gene was a 1953 graduate of Reitz Memorial High School and an active and long-time member of All Saints/St. Joseph Catholic Church in the city. Gene enjoyed fishing with his brother Bob and playing golf with his brother Don. Once during an 18-day span, Gene had two holes in one on the same hole. He was an avid Notre Dame Football fan and frequently followed IU and Evansville Aces basketball. Gene was wonderful, generous, and kind to his family as well as to friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William, Robert; sisters, Martha Jean and Janice.
Gene is survived by his brother, Don; sisters-in-law, Barbara Wedding and Veronica Wedding. Nieces include: Yvonne McIntire (Brett), Cathy Norman (Bryan), Christy Bauer (Jim). Wedding nephews are Mike (Heather), Steve (Sharron), Daniel (Pamela), Greg (Connie), Tom (Brenda), Dave, and Don (Gloria) all of Evansville.
