Services: A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10:30 AM.CST., Friday, 26, 2022, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 625 Frame Rd., Newburgh IN. 47630, with Father Claude Burns presiding.

Ray Allen Wright 84, of Newburgh IN., passed away Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Walnut Creek Special Care Center in Evansville IN.

He was born October 13, 1937 in Evansville IN., to the late William Allen & Mable (Whiticker) Wright.

He graduated from Newburgh High School and was part of the Men’s Basketball Sectional Champs in 1955.  He was a United States Navy veteran and served overseas in Japan & Hong Kong.  He was a member of the Jaycees until he retired at 35 and helped with the planning, finance, and building of the original Newburgh Community Park and Pool.  Ray retired from Alcoa after working 30 years as a Unit Supervisor.  He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and a faithful volunteer at Mother Theresa’s.

He is survived by his wife, Ann (DeVous) Wright, children, Jean Stevens (Brent), Michael Wright (Stacey), Barry Wright (Melissa), grandchildren, Annie Rivera, Jordan Byers, Ben Wright, Seth Risley, Abby Wright, Abby Risley, Meg Risley, great grandchildren, Kaylee Byers, Steven Nathaniel Byers, Ava Rivera, Anllela Rivera, Luke Wright, Emma Wright, Harper Wright, brother, Warren Wright.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Caroline Heim and Mary Lou Simpson.

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10:30 AM.CST., Friday, 26, 2022, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 625 Frame Rd., Newburgh IN. 47630, with Father Claude Burns presiding.  Entombment will follow with full military rites.

Visitation will be from 4:30 to 7:30 PM., with a prayer service to begin at 7 PM., Thursday, August 25, 2022 at the Titzer Family Funeral Homes, 510 W. Jennings St., Newburgh IN. 47630, (812) 853-8314. Also, visitation will begin at the church at 9:45 AM. on Friday.

The family has established a donation fund to purchase a basketball goal to be erected at St. John’s.  They can be made to SJB Athletics, 625 Frame Rd., Newburgh IN. 47630.
