Raymond E. Nelson

Raymond E. Nelson, 89, formerly of Elberfeld, Ind., passed away, Sunday, March 12, 2017, at his home.  He was born March 31, 1927, in Ottwell, Ind., to Andrew Harrison and Nella Arbutus Nelson.

Raymond was a WWII United States Army Veteran.  He worked at Republic Aviation and Swift & Co. for some 13 years in Evansville, retiring from Alcoa as a maintenance foreman in 1986 after 24 years.  Raymond was a member of the American Legion Post 351 in Elberfeld, the VFW in Boonville, and the 40-8.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers and sisters.  Raymond is survived by his wife of 69 years, Joyce Raye Nelson; son, Billy R. Nelson (Karen); daughter, Brenda Craig; grandchildren, Shelly R. Titus (Tom), Jenny A. Keck (John), Matt Craig (Jamie), Jackie Crowe (Aaron); and 11 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held 1 p.m., Thursday, March 16, 2017, at Zion Cemetery in Elberfeld with full Military Rites conducted by the American Legion Elberfeld Honor Guard.
