Retired Major Steven Ray Williams, 58, formerly of Evansville, Ind., died peacefully at Virginia Beach General Hospital on July 2, 2016. A veteran of Operation Desert Storm in the Persian Gulf War, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 28 years from 1976 to 2004. Born June 11, 1958, Steve is preceded in death by his mother, Peggy Lavonne Williams. He is survived by his wife of 20 years Susan Shelby Williams; five children: Peggy Espinoza, Steven Williams Jr., Jamie Williams, Tonya Bauer and Brian Williams; 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Steve is also survived by his brothers: Rick Williams, John Williams, Roger Williams, and Timothy Williams, his sister Cynthia Egan and nieces and nephews. Graveside service and burial will be held with the family at Locust Hill Cemetery in Evansville at 11a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2016, with Full Military Rites conducted by the Marine Corp.
