Richard Alan Lochmueller, 88, of Elberfeld IN passed away at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, IN on December 10th, 2025.
Richard was born on May 27th, 1937, in Elberfeld IN to his parents, Melvin and Mildred (Susott) Lochmueller. He graduated from Elberfeld High School in 1955, completed a Master of Education in math and science at Oakland City and IU, and then went on to become a schoolteacher in Jasper as well as teaching Sunday school for 65 years. Richard had a love for sports, he was an avid basketball and softball player, an assistant baseball coach for the Tecumseh Braves, and coached girls’ basketball at Thompkins Elementary, where he retired from in 1995, and Cynthia Heights in Evansville, where he led both teams to City Championships; he also spent many years umpiring baseball and as a basketball referee. Richard was very strong in his Faith, serving on the Zion UCC Church counsel in Elberfeld, the town board, as well as being an active member of the Kiwanis club in Elberfeld. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family; especially his beloved wife of 62 years, Millie.
Richard is survived by his dear wife, Millicent “Millie” (Schepman) Lochmueller; children, Jeff (Kim) Lochmueller, Gayla (Greg) Brown, and Trent (Jamie) Lochmueller; grandchildren, Laura, Allison, Hannah, Bianca, Erica, Kassy, Sarah, Kevin, and Keith. Great-grandchildren, Landon, Liam, Noah and Penelope; sister, Jan Arnold; and nieces Karol and Kristi. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Mildred (Susott) Lochmueller, and his grandson, Trevor Lochmueller.
A Funeral Service will be held in Richard’s honor at 10:00am on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Zion UCC 165 Elm St Elberfeld IN 47613. A visitation will be held for Richard on Sunday, December 14, 2025, from 3:00pm to 7:00pm, at Titzer Family Funeral Homes Volkman Chapel 2nd and Elm St Elberfeld In 47613.
