Rita Marie Shekell

Rita Marie Shekell, 88, passed away, Friday, November 4, 2016, at her home.  She was born June 23, 1928, in Spencer County to Andrew and Rosalie (Weber) Miller.  She graduated from Reitz Memorial High School; was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack A. Shekell; and longtime companion, Ray Meyer.

Rita is survived by her son, Ron Shekell, Sr. (Barbara); daughter, Sue Edwards (Jim); grandchildren, Stephanie Brown, Ron Shekell, Jr. (Judy), Kristy Heilmann (Nick), Melissa Perkins (Matt), Jayme Knollman (Zach); great-grandchildren, Hannah Brown, Benjamin Brown, Maddie Brown, Jack Brown, Meredith Perkins, Ella Knollman, Makena Knollman, Hudson Knollman, Collin Heilmann, Aspen Heilmann; brother, Mike Miller (Betty Lou); sisters-in-law, Charlotte Miller, Barbara Miller; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 625 Frame Rd., Newburgh, Ind.  Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m., Monday, at Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Simpson Chapel, 510 W.
