Ron Kleiman passed away at Heart to Heart Hospice on Monday, November 7, 2022. He was born on July 12, 1938, to Raymond and Minnie (Speicher) Kleiman.

He was raised in Mackey, Indiana, and later moved to Buckskin, where he lived on the family farm. Growing up, their family was self-sufficient. They raised their own livestock, milked their own cows, grew vegetables, and butchered their own meat. Ron and his two brothers learned many different skills growing up on the farm. Whether it was farming, carpentry, electric, or plumbing, they could all do just about everything.

Ron graduated from Mackey High School in 1956 and went to work at the Ford Garage in Elberfeld. In 1958, he joined the National Guard, where he served for six years. Also at that time, he began dating Teddy Ann Volkman and would marry her on October 7, 1961.

In the early 1960s, he purchased a service station at the corner of Front and Walnut Streets in Elberfeld, which would later become Ron’s Marathon. He and Teddy Ann owned the station for more than 30 years. Ron got a great deal of satisfaction from helping others. Whether it was fixing a flat tire or jumping a car battery, you could always count on him for fast and friendly service.

Early in their marriage, he and Teddy Ann enjoyed camping, boating, and playing cards. When they started a family, their focus shifted to raising their children.

In the 1970s, he and Teddy Ann began to invest in farmland. Over the next four decades, they assembled a beautiful farm northeast of Elberfeld. They raised cattle, corn, and soybeans.

Taking great pride in being a third-generation farmer, the care and upkeep of the farm became his passion. He loved nothing more than being out in the open air doing a hard day's work.

Ron adored his five grandchildren. He enjoyed helping them with 4H Projects, attending their games and events, and taking them on four-wheeler rides.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Elberfeld American Legion.

Ron is survived by, a daughter, Kenda (Kevin) Cecil; a son, Kent (Shelly) Kleiman; brother, Lonnie Kleiman (Ginger Cleveland); grandchildren, Grant, Ethan, and Alexa Cecil, Sydney and Sophie Kleiman; nephews, Darrell, John and Jason Kleiman and niece, Donna Miller. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Teddy Ann; his parents; brother, Don Kleiman; two sisters-in-law, Sharon & Judi Kleiman.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 12 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1925 Volkman Rd. Evansville, IN 47725. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.  A visitation will be held Friday, November 11, from 4-8 pm at Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Volkman Chapel, 2nd & Elm St. Elberfeld, IN 47613.
