Services: Hadi Shriners walk thru at 6:30 PM with a Masonic service at 7 PM followed by full military rites at Titzer Family Funeral Homes~Newburgh Chapel.

Samuel G. Barter, Jr., 76, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Hamilton Pointe. He was born in Evansville March 12, 1939 to the late Samuel G. and Lois N. (Oaks) Barter. He was an auto mechanic and former owner of Sam’s Automotive Service. Sam was a member of Reed Lodge No. 316 and Hadi Shriners. He was a member of the Arab Patrol and Hospital Staff, a former member of the Motor Corps, Car Club, bowling league and golf league. Sam was a former Parade Marshal, Provost Marshal, Potentate's Aide and Captain of the Arab Patrol. Sam loved music and spun records at the Temple for various Shrine units and clubs as well as private dances. Sam enjoyed riding motorcycles and touring with his wife Sharon. He, along with a few friends, organized the Southern Indiana Motorcycle Assn., and the Harley Owners Group Club (HOG). Sam enjoyed cooking, playing cards, camping, and had a tremendous love for animals. He also enjoyed restoring his “dream car” a 1956 T-Bird. Sam is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sharon (McNew) Barter; three sons, Samuel G. Barter III (Julie) of Boonville, Robert Barter (Susie) of Newburgh, and David Barter (Penny) of Evansville; daughter, Beth Dietsch (Michael) of Newburgh; four grandchildren, Courtney and Haley Barter, Seth and Megan Dietsch; two step grandchildren, Brandon Kaiser and Alexus Kelley. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Titzer Family Funeral Homes ~ Simpson Chapel, 510 W. Jennings St. Newburgh, IN (812) 853-8314. The Hadi Shriners will conduct a walk-thru at 6:30 p.m. with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. followed by full military rites conducted by the American Legion Kapperman Post 44 honor guard.
